Joanna obtained her BSc, MSc and PhD from the University of Edinburgh then completed a three year postdoctoral research position at the School of Informatics. During this time and beyond, Joanna consulted with three technology spin out companies focusing on product, business development and marketing. She managed and developed the popular Edinburgh Entrepreneurship Club for six years, growing the Club to over 3,000 members, and designed and delivered training courses to startup company founders via Edinburgh Innovations, the innovation management service for the University of Edinburgh for several years.
Joanna started her own training and publishing services company in 2011: the company, Electv, provides training to scientists and researchers in the UK and Europe with a focus on researcher development, communication and enterprise.
In addition to running her company which takes up the majority of her time, Joanna lectures on entrepreneurship courses and on Executive Education programmes at the University of Edinburgh Business School. Her interests include technology startups, entrepreneurial ecosystems and intrapreneurship.
